Grossmont Forensics Squad hosts 18th annual Griffin Tournament

GROSSMONT COLLEGE — The speech and debate squad is studying comments from judges following the 18th annual Griffin Tournament that brought 23 college teams to the campus Nov. 19-20.

Asma Eweida and Jonathan Parker each won two awards in the tournament, and Jonathan Smith collected another for the Grossmont team.

Eweida’s awards were Finalist in Open Division Persuasive Speaking, and 9th Place Speaker Award in Parlimentary Debate. The team of Parker and Smith won Bronze in Novice Parliamentary Debate, and Parker collected the 7th Place Speaker Award in Parlimentary Debate.
 
Judges write comments on their ballots following an event; Grossmont competitors and their director, Roxanne Tuscany, are now carefully studying these comments to learn how their performances might be improved.

As in the previous 17 years, the Griffin Tournament was held  at Grossmont with Tuscany coordinating the event.
