Government to pay tuition for some veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. (USANN4)–The federal government is encouraging colleges and universities to join the Post-9/11 GI Bill Yellow Ribbon Program for next year.   The program allows some students to possibly attend school tuition-free.   It is administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill program is available for service members and veterans who have served at least 36 months on active duty.   Also eligible are those who served at least 30 continuous days and were discharged due to a service-related injury after September 11th, 2001.   The benefit can be transferred to eligible family members.
