Notre Dame deactivates hydraulic lift for sports photographers after fatal accident

NOTRE DAME, Indiana  (USANN4)–The University of Notre Dame announces it will no longer use hydraulic lifts for videographers at football practices.   The move comes five months after a student was killed when one of the lifts toppled over on a windy day.   Reverend John Jenkins, Notre Dame’s president, says the school will use remote-controlled cameras in the future.

Indiana officials are still investigating the October 27th accident that killed student Declan Sullivan.   The National Weather Service reported gusts of up to 51 miles per hour at the time of the incident.
