Central Washington University bans alcoholic energy drinks

ELLENSBURG, Washington (USANN4) — Another university has banned so-called alcoholic “energy drinks.”   The announcement by Central Washington University came following the hospitalization of nine college students after an off-campus party earlier this month.   The school says its probe found no students were given drugs or alcohol without their knowledge.   CWU also said that no sexual assault occurred.

Washington Governor Chris Gregoire  and Attorney General Rob McKenna both are both calling for state or federal action to limit sales of the beverages.   The drinks have been banned by one other college, Ramapo College of New Jersey.
