Harvard poll finds college students’ interest in elections declining

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (USA News Network4)–With 11 days before the crucial mid-term elections, young people are being noticeably silent.  A new survey indicates that many college students and other members of the Millennial generation may skip next month’s elections.

The survey by Harvard’s Institute of Politics indicates that they are unhappy with the work done by elected officials and the direction of the country.

The poll found that approval of President Obama among Millennials dropped below 50 percent for the first time.   Young voters overwhelmingly supported Obama in the 2008 presidential election.   Among eligible voters under the age of 30 who were surveyed, only 27 percent said they will definitely be voting in the mid-term elections.
